TRYOUT EVENTS

• What age do I need to be to register?
  • All registrants must be at least the legal age of majority in their state of residence (18 in most states, 19 in Alabama and Nebraska) and born in either 2006 or 2007.
• Can I register if I turn the age of majority between now and the tryout event?
  • Yes, you are eligible to register as long as you turn the age of majority (18 in most states, 19 in Alabama and Nebraska) before your selected tryout event.
• Can a coach register their whole team?
  • No - coaches should direct their players to register individually.
• When will I hear back when I register?
  • After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours with further details.
• If I am on the waiting list, when will I hear if I made the cut or not?
  • You will receive an update via email if your status has changed at least 7 days prior to your chosen event. You will have 48 hours to confirm your attendance if chosen from the waiting list.
• Can I bring other friends or family members to watch the tryout event?
  • In order to ensure events run smoothly, we ask all participants bring a maximum of (2) guests.
• When will I receive additional information regarding the tryout event (e.g., location, time, etc.)?
  • Reminder emails with event information will be sent 2 weeks prior to your event, 1 week prior to your event, and 48 hours prior to your event.
• What happens if I show up late to the event?
  • We highly recommend you arrive at least 30 mins before the start of the event to allow time to check in. If you arrive 15 minutes after the start time of your event, you may not be allowed to join the event (at event coaches’ discretion).
• How are “winners” chosen at the tryout events?
  • Winners will be chosen based on a combination of game performance, technical skill, fundamentals, and intangibles. See official terms & conditions for full details. Winners will be notified via email by July 31st, at which time they will have 7 days to accept their prize and confirm their attendance in Madrid.
• How many youth will be selected for the Abbott Dream Team at the tryout event?
  • Across all 5 events, 11 winners will be selected in total - at least 5 male and 5 female winners. See Terms and Conditions for full details.
• What do I need to bring to the event? What should I wear?
  • Wear comfortable soccer apparel - shorts and turf shoes (no cleats). Participants will be given an event jersey and water bottle.
• What happens if I can no longer attend the event?
  • We kindly ask that you notify us 10 days before your event to give registrants on the waiting list a chance to confirm their attendance.
• Will food and/or beverages be provided?
  • Meals will not be provided. Water and Pedialyte will be available for all guests.
• Will there be parking available nearby?
  • Parking depends on the venue/location. Confirmation emails will include parking information per venue.

 

PRIZE/TRIP TO MADRID

• What would be paid for by Abbott for the Madrid Trip in November?
  • Round-trip airfare, 5 nights accommodation, meals, soccer training sessions, educational sessions, local transportation, additional gifts and spending money. See Terms & Conditions for full details.
• What if I don’t have a passport?
  • All Abbott Dream Team members must:
    • Have a passport valid for travel to Spain until July 2026 (countries may deny entry if a passport is not valid for 6 months after travel)
      • If participants do not meet this requirement, they will not be able to participate in events.
• If we win, can I bring more people to Madrid?
  • No - only the winning participant will be invited to Madrid.
• Can I extend my stay in Madrid?
  • If you choose to extend your stay outside the travel window of Friday, November 21 to Wednesday, November 26, participant will be responsible for all expenses out of pocket.
• Can I choose the airline or hotel for the trip?
  • Abbott will pre-select airline/flight, but before booking, if you have a high preference on airline and flight times, we will work with you to accommodate if possible (at organizer’s discretion). The hotel will be preselected and changes will not be allowed.
• Am I liable for taxes on the prize/trip value?
  • Yes, you are liable for taxes. An amount will be paid via check intended to help cover taxes - see Terms and Conditions for full details.
