The selection process

Participants across all markets will take part in a standardized selection event experience:

  • We're looking for U.S-based soccer players ages 18-19, male and female.
  • Register for your preferred tryout session - events will take place in 6 cities on 6 days and participants can choose between an AM session and a PM session.
  • Participants will engage in technical skills activities, drills, and matches/scrimmages designed to provide a dynamic and enjoyable on-field experience.
  • Training sessions will be facilitated by a team of Real Madrid coaches and local assistant coaches.
  • Participants will also take part in a performance nutrition session led by expert nutritionists from Abbott, the official nutrition partner of Real Madrid, where they will learn how to maximize their potential on and off the field through healthy habits and proper nutrition.
  • All participants will receive the limited-edition Adidas 2026 Abbott Dream Team jersey and official Abbott/Pedialyte branded water bottle (used by Real Madrid men's and women's first team and academy players).
  • Participants will receive Abbott nutrition products Pedialyte and Ensure Max Protein for use onsite and post-event.

Selection criteria

Throughout the selection process, participants will engage in a series of standardized activities designed to highlight strong athletic habits and positive team behavior. To ensure those chosen for the Abbott Dream Team are exemplary athletes and teammates, a set of criteria will be observed for each player:

  • Game performance
    • Participants will take part in live gameplay scenarios that allow them to demonstrate decision making, positioning, field awareness, and how they interact within team dynamics.
  • Technical fundamentals
    • Players will participate in drills and exercises focused on core soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defending and ball control.
  • Intangibles
    • Observation of non-technical attributes, including attitude, teamwork, sportsmanship, effort and coachability.
  • Shared values and healthy habits
    • The Abbott Dream Team program reinforces principles embraced by Abbott and Real Madrid - discipline, respect, teamwork, and a commitment to well-being. Participants will be encouraged to adopt strong nutrition habits that support sustained performance, learning how proper fueling, hydration, and recovery contribute to long-term athletic and personal development.
